BackPacking Food for Kids to Combat Food Insecurity

Description: Club members provided direct assistance to the community by partnering with the Spalding County Collaborative for the Backpack Food for Kids program for a biweekly packing session. This program sorts, packs and delivers food into individual bags for delivery to 8 local schools to address the issue of weekend food insecurity for students. Rotarians provided the hands and vehicles for this packing session.

The items packed and delivered during the project will feed 273 students across 8 of the school system’s elementary schools, easing the burden of food insecurity for our young and vulnerable students.
