For over a decade, New Horizons/New Dimensions Preparatory School in Spalding County has been without a playground or sports facilities—until now. Thanks to a remarkable community effort, that is finally changing.
After years of fundraising, the school
was finally able to purchase its own building and grounds. Seeing an
opportunity to make an even greater impact, the Rotary Club of Griffin stepped up in a
big way to create a space where the school’s youngest students could play,
laugh, and thrive.
Utilizing District Grant funds and our
own contributions, we secured brand-new swings—complete with professional
installation for safety and liability protection. We then negotiated the generous donation of three truckloads of mulch to
provide a soft, safe landing across the entire 3,000-square-foot playground - which includes the space where the rest of the playground will be built.
Then, on a cold and rainy day, our dedicated volunteers—armed with equipment
and determination—leveled the land and spread every last bit of mulch to meet
city safety standards.
Now, every time we drive by this school on one of Griffin’s main roads, we see those swings constantly in motion—filled with joy, laughter, and the childhood memories every child deserves.
