Honoring Our Veterans

Rotary Club of Griffin Presents: A Tribute to Our Service Members, Past & Present

The Rotary Club of Griffin’s Veterans Committee is teaming up with our Senior Citizens Committee to host a powerful and heartfelt Memorial Day tribute on May 21st in Griffin—honoring all veterans from Spalding County.

Chairs Rita Cavanaugh and Allen Edwards, along with their dedicated committees, have chosen the inspiring theme:  "A Tribute to Our Service Members, Past and Present."

This moving ceremony will begin with Boy Scouts of America Troop 2 proudly posting the American flag alongside the flags of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard—a stirring visual salute to those who have served.

Adding to the patriotic spirit, members of the Rotary Club of Griffin, The Griffin Concert Association, and St. George’s Methodist Church Music Group will deliver powerful musical performances to honor our heroes.

We are also honored to welcome special guest, Retired Army Sargent Major Sandra Brownlee, whose veteran organization, Waypoint, is leading efforts to establish a new homeless veterans' home in Griffin—a mission of service that embodies the true spirit of Memorial Day.

Our hope is that this will be seen as more than just an event—it’s a moment of gratitude, unity, and reflection.
