The Rotary Club of
Griffin turned up the heat this fall with an electrifying college football
challenge that had members cheering, competing, and giving back to the
community in a big way!
This one was actually "borrowed," but modified from our friends at Rotary in Columbus. Rotarians signed up to
support their favorite college football team—either solo or in dynamic
duos—regardless of wins, losses, or conference standings. The only thing that
mattered? Total points scored! Each member pledged $1 per point racked
up by their team throughout the season, while duos committed to $1.20 per
point combined. To keep things friendly, we set caps at $400 per
individual and $200 per partner.
The Hype Was Real. Every two weeks, our spirited referee, Chuck Copeland, brought the energy with
high-energy pep rallies during our meetings, awarding a cash prize to the top Rotarian
scorer from the last two games and keeping everyone updated on the
standings. The excitement carried over to our fall outing, where football
fever took center stage!
The Final Score - As the season wrapped up, we celebrated the top-scoring team and
crowned the biggest loser with good-natured fun. Natalie
Marshall, our President-Elect, claimed the top points honor, while President
Kathleen Smith took home the "biggest loser" title with plenty
of laughs!
The Real Victory? Our
Community! Thanks to our enthusiastic members, this Community Project Fundraiser scored
a whopping $9,653 for our community projects budget—directly supporting
initiatives that make a difference right here at home.
From friendly rivalries to unforgettable moments, this challenge was more than just a fundraiser—it was a season full of team spirit, competition, and community impact.
