Welcome to the Rotary Club of Griffin website. I am honored to have
been selected as the 96th President of our club. I greatly appreciate this opportunity to serve our club and the community where I was raised. I am one of several second-generation presidents in our club. My father was a long-time member of this club and president of the Rotary Club of Griffin for the 1961-62 year. Rotary is an organization that I was aware of at a young age. I remember my parents going to “Jekyll” and having “foreign students”, as they were called in that era, visit our home.
I plan to continue the club’s traditional community projects that we have fostered for years, including several that date back to the early 60’s. I also have new projects planned that will get our members young and old outside and participating in hands on segments of these projects. It is important to the club membership to get our younger members active in more that just attending meetings. Projects enable new members to bond with long time club members creating friendships.
The club will continue to seek quality members to join the club this year and quarterly membership drive socials will continue to be held. We must bring in young new members to assure that the club will continue to thrive and provide service to our community, nation and the world for years to come.
Our club will continue to live stream our meetings each week and the video of each meeting can be easily viewed any time after the meeting from the club’s website. The Rotary Club of Griffin is the first club in the state and District 6900 to utilize this technology to promote our club and enable members that are absent to view and enjoy the meeting they missed.
I thank you for visiting our website and we welcome you to visit our club if you are interested in learning more about Rotary and the Rotary Club of Griffin.

Stories about Rotary as told by our membership.
My father was a Rotarian and a former President of the Spring Lake, MI, Rotary Club. I remember occasionally going to meetings with him as a child. Twice our family hosted Rotary students (one from Finland and the other from Germany) when I was in high school. When I became involved in the Rotary Club of Griffin as an adult, I felt like … [more]
To understand the Rotary Club of Griffin, one only needs to look at the membership. Service above self is seen in the everyday lives of the men and women that comprise this club. Every member is plugged into and active in most every aspect of Griffin, Georgia. From church committees to youth groups to community outreach, Griffin Rotarians … [more]
Rotary’s motto Service above Self can be traced back to the very beginning of Rotary when Arthur F Sheldon addressed the first convention of Rotary in Chicago. Sheldon stated in his speech to the attendees, “only the science of right conduct towards others pays.Business is the science of human services. He profits most who serves his fellows … [more]
Growing up in Griffin, I knew Rotary mainly through the programs and events they sponsored, as well as Interact. I knew that they did great things in the community, but not much about the group itself. It took joining the Club to understand how the motto of Service above Self plays out in practice in the day-to-day actions of my fellow Rotarians … [more]
Rotary came into my life at a young age with the Rotary Boys Choir - sponsored by the club and directed by Mrs. Gretchen Cummings and accompanied by Mrs. Emily Harris, pianist. I thought it was wonderful that the Rotarians, a great group of respected community and civic leaders, would sponsor us. Later, I enjoyed visiting the club as a Student Rotarian … [more]
